Yelp has never been a favorite of restaurant owners because of the disruption of daily business due to inaccurate reviews. During the past week Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman announced restaurant listings fell 54% and U.S. nightlife spots fell 69%. 

Other restaurants, like New York’s Prince Street Pizza, are taking a harder line against Yelp. Via Instagram, it asked, “Why are you still writing Yelp reviews at a time like this” as places are “risking their lives to serve the communities food...I am so sorry you didn’t get the magical experience you hoped for Karen.”

Yelp relies on users to generate content and if businesses are closed, there are no customers to write Yelp reviews.
